Mon Baroudeuse Unpaved (2019).

I had a very hard start with the heat and the hike-a-bikes on the first day. Day 2 went better. We had some nice climbs and fast downhills but also so much hiking sections. Second day stopped at Cp2, Chalet Renard. Day 3 started great but when the sun was out, the heat got me again and watersources on the track were so hard to find. My motivation dropped and ended up in a first scratch on a bikepacking event.

It does not feel great to scratch, but it’s just a bike race after all.

My ride stopped in Verclause around km 560. Around 60 hours of hard work in a beautiful but tough scenary. My first “fail” so far in a race and that is not a positive feeling! I can blame the heat or the lack on resupply or maybe the injury after HT550 I had, …. but that would be all to easy! This experience can be a new start. Thinking about what is good and what I can change. Training, nutrition, bike-setup, … there is always space for emprovement. “We learn from failure, not from succes!”  I’ll give it some time, and then up to next challenges.

Also I want to thank the people and brands for the support and their believe in me!

Pierre-arnaud from CHIRU Bikes to let me in the chirubrigade.
Carbon Endurance Component7mesh and MET Helmets to support the team with their high quality gear!
